Our 2010 Alaska Trip

Our Passengers for our 2010 Alaska trip..

This is "Jack" "Jill" and "DonkeyOdie." They traveled with us from Colorado to Homer AK! They were fun to have on board, very well behaved, but a little untrusting at first.

This is "Houston" one of Seattle Slews grandsons! Houston was excellent. I don't think I have ever transported a Thoroughbred that is as well trained as him!

Departure Day from my farm.  This is "Eddie".  Our Curly Stallion that came to us from Ohio and stayed with us for a month before departure. Ten days before departure, Eddie became a gelding. " Load up Eddie.. Time to go !

This is "Missy." She had been at a boarding facility in South Dakota, where she obviously had not been take care of.  She was underweight, and had not been groomed for some time. ( See the difference by the time we delivered her in her other pics ) Missy came with us from South Dakota to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage.

Valley View, Alberta, Canada

We are fortunate enough to be able to utilize the Fair grounds in Valley View Alberta Canada, for a good rest break.  The horses get out in their own individual pipe rail corrals, they can roll, eat, drink, and and get a good rest. We stop here every year.

Backed in and ready to unload

Jack n Jill and Odie, were happy to take a break !

Eddie made himself right at home.. gotta love dirt !!

Houston was very much at ease.. ( it's very quiet at the fair grounds )

Missy was completely at ease .. She's looking better !! Remember her loading pics !

After a three hour break, it was time to load up .. " Good boy Eddie "

Delivery Day in Anchorage and Homer

We delivered Eddie in Willow, but didn't get any pictures as we were doing a trailer transfer.

Here is "Missy", being delivered at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage.. She looks 100% better - and much happier!

We delivered "Houston" very late in the evening.  It was almost dark, so our pics are not the best.  Houston came from Riverside CA to Denver CO where we picked him up.  he was also delivered in Anchorage to Tina.  She loved him right off.

Check out more of his story on Marshall's staff page.

The next morning when we arrived at Sharon's in Homer, she was all smiles ! Sharon had been waiting a long time to have her three " kids" with her again.. Jack, Jill and Odie made the trip without a hitch ! They settled right in their new home..

Homer on the 4th of July

We took a couple days off, and there was a nice parade in Homer on the 4th of July.

We got to watch the parade from the balcony of the motel.

And the Hoka Hey motorcycle participants brought up the end of the parade.

(see above for what the Hoka Hey is)

Return Trip

It was time to go on July 5th.  We headed back to Anchorage to Elmendorf AFT to pick up " Gracie " We took Gracie to Alaska three years ago.

Now her owner " Debbie" is retiring from the Air Force and they are both going back home to Wyoming.

Loading Gracie at Elmendorf AFB stables.  Heading to Spokane, WA

Debbie saying "Goodbye, but only for a little while!" and introducing Gracie to the trailer.

Heading to the Yukon

This cow moose was having a good time in this pond.

Very nice Black Bear. We saw about 30 black bears on the trip

This eagle was overlooking Pickhandle Lake. One of my favorite Yukon rest areas.

Gracie getting a drink from the creek at a rest area in British Columbia

More Alaska Scenery

A few more scenic pics (okay - we were shutter bugs this trip)

Almost around every curve or just after you think you've seen the best of ..., Alaska will present you with scenery even more spectacular then the last.

Entering Washington state

Off to Spokane to pick up " GUS ."  Gus (Morgan/Arabian Gelding) would travel from Spokane WA to Peotone, IL

He was very interested in Gracie.

Introducing the trailer to Gus .. no problem !

Delivering Starbuck, Monty and Rap - passengers from Minnesota to Missouri.

Read their story on Marshall's staff page.

Delivering Gus in Illinois

Letting him get a good look around and a few sniffs too!

A successful end to another trip to the Land of the Midnight Sun!

That's it for now!
